I regret to advise you that as a consequence of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak the 2020 Joint Meeting which would have been held in Montréal has been cancelled.

This is a joint decision taken by the IWCC Executive Board and by the Core Group of Copper Producers that co-fund the Joint Meeting.

The reasons for the cancellation are the uncertainty as to where and with what intensity the Coronavirus outbreak will spread in the near future, and that the IWCC has a duty of care for the health and safety of delegates, partners, employees, and our colleagues in Canada.  Furthermore, a significant number of companies have understandably imposed travel restrictions on staff, which would have severely disrupted the event.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their efforts in preparing for the Joint Meeting.

The cancellation of the Joint Meeting also means that a number of associated IWCC meetings will not now be held.  I will advise the new arrangements for these associated meetings in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding of this decision.

On a more positive note, I can announce that it is the intention to hold the 2021 Joint Meeting in Bangkok.

Kindest regards,

Mark Loveitt
President
