The IWCC Flat Rolled Committee met in Dusseldorf on the 13th of June.
The meeting began with an interesting and insightful presentation from copper market Expert Jonathan Barnes, Project Blue, who spoke primarily about major trends impacting on the global and European copper market, giving insights into the FRP market.
The committee then reviewed the latest IWCC statistics for production and demand for flat rolled copper and alloy products. Following a request made at the previous meeting, the committee received a presentation ‘deep dive’ on trade flows between the EU27+UK and the rest of the world.
Finally, committee members discussed the state of the European market for flat rolled products, and the impact of factors such as the ‘green agenda,’ labor shortages and the threat of substitution.
This event was also the perfect opportunity for members of both committees to network and strengthen relationships with IWCC members from both the Flat Rolled but also the Copper Bars Committee during a dinner held at a local German restaurant.
We would like to thank all committee members in attendance, and thank Jonathan Barnes for his interesting and insightful presentation. We look forward to the next Rolled Metal Committee meeting, to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, between the 24th and 26th of June 2025.
