The 2025 Joint Meeting was held in Singapore between the 12th and 14th of May. This event brought together delegates from over 75 companies from across the entire copper value chain, from mining companies to semis fabricators, as well as industry stakeholders. The first day began with a comprehensive and insightful talk on the future of AI investment by the event’s keynote speaker Sundeep Gantori, UBS. A panel was then held, giving delegates the opportunity to hear from industry experts about the future trends in the fabricating industry and the impact of global political trends such as tariffs on the copper outlook for 2025. The morning finished with valuable presentations on the developments in the Chinese copper fabrication industry given by CNFIA and an update from the LME given by John Williamson.

The second day of presentations began with a comprehensive and thought provoking talk on global geopolitical trends from Professor Joseph Liow, followed by updates on the growth of copper consumption in India in recent years, copper usage in the offshore energy sector, recycling and refrigeration. A panel was also held to discuss the crucial role copper will play in the energy transition.
The Joint Meeting also included meetings for the Joint Statistical and Copper Committees, who both built upon successful discussions in LME Week in October.
The IWCC joint statistical committee discussion was led by committee chair, Randy Nickle, Freeport McMoRan. Participants held a lively discussion about the latest statistics and market situation across major economies.
The IWCC Copper Committee, chaired by Dirk Harten, Schwermetall, heard a presentation by Georgina Hallett from the LME, covering primarily the issue of US imposed tariffs and the LME exploring a new sustainable price premia. The committee then discussed their thoughts on scrap metal availability, and the importance of educating the market on the importance of scrap copper usage to reduce emissions within the industry.
Alongside the presentations, the agenda included an industry dinner at the Fullerton Hotel, a chairman’s dinner held at Raffles Hotel, and a dive into Singapore’s Historic Quarters, including the Civic Centre, River Bumboat and China Town. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural run, 34 delegates participated in an early morning run through Singapore’s Botanical Gardens. These events provide unparalleled networking opportunities for delegates across the entire copper value chain.
