Members of the IWCC Rolled Product Committee met in Istanbul, Turkey, last week. The key topics covered in the meeting included:
- An update of recent IWCC work including the India Seminar, the 2026 Technical Seminar and the IWCC’s intended expansion into recycling in conjunction with the BIR.
- A discussion on the structure of the committee and how to widen the group’s engagement and insight into global markets.
- Members were then shown the latest market statistics for production and demand of copper, brass and phosphor bronze products.
- Finally, Nick Snowdon, Mercuria, gave members an interesting and insightful presentation on the potential growth in copper demand in various sectors of the energy transition, the electrification of China and the scrap market.
We would like to thank Nick Snowdon for his presentation, and Olaf Goertges for chairing the meeting.

The event began with a plant tour to Altek Dokum, where delegates were shown the rolling mill and received a presentation from Nilay Denizli, General Manager, on the history and future growth of the company. A dinner, at Olta Balik, a local restaurant, allowed members of the committee to network across the industry and allowed new members to familiarise themselves with the group.

We would like to thank everyone who attended this meeting, and thank Altek Dokum for hosting the event. We look forward to the next meeting on the 23rd and 24th of June 2026 in Hemer, Germany. For more information, please contact us at iwcc@coppercouncil.org.
